The Golfer's Body

The Body in Action

The body is a highly complex machine and, when working correctly, can produce phenomenal levels of physical skill.

During the golf swing almost every muscle and joint is active in creating the most powerful, consistent and pain-free movement. Consider the following - you are only as strong as your weakest muscle and only as efficient as your weakest link.

You'll see on the animation of a human musculo-skeletal system jumping how muscles simultaneously contract and joints move.

The average tournament professional's golf swing lasts approximately 1100ms, broken into 800ms for the backswing and 300ms for the downswing. In order for the body to perform to its full physical potential during this small window, optimal physical fitness is advised if one's goal is maximum power, maximum consistency and minimal injury.
