The Golfer's Body
Lower Trap Activation
The trapezius is a large superficial muscle that extends longitudinally from the occipital bone to the lower thoracic vertebrae and laterally to the spine of the scapula (shoulder blade). Its functions are to move the scapulae and support the arm. This is important in golf as it helps connection between the arms and torso and, vitally, it allows the energy produced by the body to be effectively transferred into the arms and club head on impact.
The adductor magnus is a large triangular muscle, situated on the mid/inner thigh.
The above video is an example of an exercise drill which, when undertaken as part of a tailored golf conditioning programme, can improve strength and movement to achieve a better body for golf.
