The Golfer's Body

TVA and Oblique Activation

Transversus abdominals Obliques

The oblique muscles (of the abdomen) are the outermost and middle of the three flat muscles of the lateral anterior abdomen, lying just above the transverse abdominal muscle.

The transversus abdominals are a muscle layer of the anterior and lateral abdominal wall which are deep to (layered below) the internal oblique muscle.

These muscles help rotate the torso in both the back and downswing and play a crucial role in generating rotational speed and power.

The above video is an example of an exercise drill which, when undertaken as part of a tailored golf conditioning programme, can improve strength and movement to achieve a better body for golf.
